When I first started painting professionally, my husband and I had just had my first daughter, and I was hoping to make a better life for my family. Hope, however, can fade or be placed on the wrong things. Traps I fell into time and time again. BUT, over the past 4 years, my daughter, later joined by her sister, has helped me to discover old, false stories I grew up thinking about myself and my place in the world. They’ve shown me how to let go of my past to move on to my future, and they demonstrate incredible resilience to me day in and day out. Their incessant requests for Elsa and her songs drill in the importance of letting go and finding yourself. Yourself. Your own unique “you.” The beautiful human who cannot, by any other human on this planet, be truly replaced. What a beautiful “you” you are. Now, you take you and charge boldly into the glorious unknown.
